you are going to hear i think at this debate -- and duf is correct -- you have will hear more from romney about himself and make himself a little bit more likable, but you will hear about his policies for the future. but the main thing i think these folks are going to concentrate on is if you like the last four years, boy oh boy love the next four. >> jennifer: right. >> they will try to make this more about the president. >> jennifer: what i think is going to be interesting on this, duf is if mitt romney is going to focus on the things that truly have been debunked before then he is going to be in a very awkward position, when he says he is going to prove that what the president said is a lie. >> i think really what is more important is that he is going to point out, look, president obama promised us that unemployment wouldn't be this high -- >> jennifer: that's another lie. he didn't promise that it was going to be 8% or less -- >> just christine roamer his -- >> jennifer: but that's the given up four pants on fire pinocchio rating as well. >> i think the american people understand when

romney's challenge now is to prove that was the real mitt romney we saw at the debates. the confident asserttive romney we saw during the debate is not the romney we have grown used to over the last couple of months. romney has since stood by his 47% statement but now he is rolling it back. here is what he said yesterday. >> it's completely wrong. and i absolutely believe, however, that my life has shown they care about 100%. >> you might think that this new romney is nothing but an act. if you do, you are not alone. here is what the president had to say to a crowd of 30,000 people yesterday in madison, wisconsin. >> i met this very spirited fellow who claims to be mitt romney. but i know it couldn't have been mitt romney because the real mitt romney has been running around the country this past year promising $5 trillion tax cuts for the wealthiest americans. >> romney is rolling out new campaign ads as well as new talking points over the next few days and weeks. his goal is to convince the american public that he is ready to be president. more coming up live after the

romney hopes to turn the tables during the debate. "the new york times" said that is just not likely. history shows only two elections have seen a big impact from the debates. the first, of course in 1960 during that first televised debate when americans saw kennedy and nixon on t.v. the second was the year 2000 when george bush overtook vice president al gore. as john mentioned earlier in the show that does not mean it is time to get complacent. one thing romney could have going for him is that the jobs report is out just 36 hours after the first debate. more john fugelsang coming up on the full court press and we're always live in chat, join us there, current.com/billpress. you're about to watch an ad message created by a current tv viewer for capella university. matter. i've been a nurse since 1979. i love being a nurse. a few years ago a friend i went to grade school with showed me a book she had kept from third grade. i had written that i wanted to be a nurse. after being a nurse for about twenty years i decided that i need to fu

john, this is not officially a disaster of debate prep for mitt romney. you know, as you know, debate handlers have come up with zingers before to candidates, but they do not leak to the media ahead of time that they have a big bag of zingers ready to go. they actually try to let the candidate take some credit for being clever and quick on his feet. this is now a hopeless situation for romney. >> i've become increasingly convinced when they're talking about zingers they're talking about the hostess snack cakes. there's been so much telegraphing of punches of the romney campaign not only with the zinger comments but also last week when they started telegraphing the notion they were going to take on the president on his vars veracity, they were going to challenge his onsti. they're tal graphed so gratuitously, it makes me think that some of these things must be decoys and that mitt romney is not going to try to throw zingers on him or he's going to do what he does need to do which is to look presidential. there's still a huge number of people in the country
